Universal Testing Machine
The universal testing machine type "QUASAR" is designed as a single test space machine and essentially consists of the following main assemblies:

Machine frame: The design and structure of the machine load frame are dimensioned where required for the stated maximum loads.
Electromechanical load application with toothed belt drive, toothed belt pulleys, drive with DC or brushless servomotor, and recirculating ball screws.
Load measurement system with a load cell suitable for both tension and compression.
Electronic control unit to perform all functions: regulation and control, monitoring and acquisition of the output signals from the measurement amplifiers for force, elongation, and crosshead travel.
The system is based on a 32-bit processor with a clock speed of 25 MHz; analog signals are captured by a 20-bit A/D converter.
The electronic controller is usually located in the base of the machine. This also applies to most electrical components of the drive and power supply.
Operator interface with PC, connected to the electronic control and monitoring board via a serial RS232 interface with high transfer rate of 38,400 baud.
