Thermoplastic Applicator
Application Area
The thermoplastic applicator applies a thermoplastic material onto rectangular glass panes as part of a solar module production line. The material forms a seal with a second glass pane, which will be applied in a subsequent process step.
Feeding, applying, and transporting the panes takes place on horizontally running belts/conveyors.
The thermoplastic applicator is a highly advanced machine that must meet many requirements with great precision. For this reason, you should only process input materials (glass, sealant) that comply with the specifications detailed on the following pages. This helps ensure high-quality and safe production.
Performance and Connection Values
- Maximum transport speed: 18 m/min
- Height of glass running surface: 1,100 mm
- Height of applied sealant bead: 0.5 to 1.2 mm
- Maximum width of applied sealant bead: 12.0 mm
- Required constant pneumatic inlet pressure: 6.5 to 8.0 bar
- Pneumatic operating pressure: 6.0 bar
- Compressed air consumption, normal operation: 10 normal liters/min

Processable are thermoplastic materials based on polyisobutylene (butyl). The material must be flowable at approx. 110°C to 130°C and have a defined viscosity curve.
Only use materials that have proven themselves in practice and are approved by both the manufacturers of these materials and Bystronic for your intended use.
